Xavier Cortada is a Miami-based artist focused on driving awareness and action around the climate crisis in South Florida. His 2023 Miami Art Week Installation, The Underwater, was one of those projects. This interactive art campaign centered around unique signs that revealed various levels of vulnerability of the coastal cities to rising sea levels to spark climate conversations and create change.
“I developed The Underwater to help my neighbors understand our vulnerability to rising seas and give them the tools to take action. Learning together and working together today, we can build a more equitable tomorrow, “ says Xavier Cortada.
To help bring this vision to life, Xavier Cortada approached the Color Reflections team in Hollywood, Florida. And our printing experts delivered!
Our team printed 5,500 custom coroplast signs for The Underwater installation that were then placed all over Miami during Miami Art Week in December of 2023.
