When Mural Arts Philadelphia asked Color Reflections to collaborate on a community project, we jumped right in!
The Rec Crew has successfully revitalized more than 18 buildings in Philly, one of which was turning an old police precinct into the JAC (Juvenile Assessment Center). From pictures of art installations to iconic Philly areas, Color Reflections recreated murals from around the city, transforming gray, dismal walls into an explosion of color.
We used different materials, such as fabrics and vinyl, to print large murals and wall graphics. But one in particular was 3M vinyl with overlam. Since we covered a wide variety of surfaces, we needed a product that would universally hold up over time despite the varying textures throughout the space.
As specialists in large format printing installation, we understand the importance of precision and quality. For our soft knit fabric hanging murals, we used pole pockets along the bottom with weighted dowels to keep it taut. We also used drop ceiling anchors and chains for support at the top, ensuring a flawless installation.
